SAP Hana DB Monitoring with Pandora FMS

The SAP certified agent is in charge of monitoring the free and occupied space in HANA DB to quickly alert if the memory dedicated to storage is full and there is a degradation in its performance.

We have a specific plug-in for the HANA DB database, used to obtain information about the server on which it is installed. In addition to typical system, database and storage metrics, some of the key performance indicators we monitor from SAP Hana include the following:

Technical requirements to start SAP monitoring, what do I need to have?

Due to its non-intrusive satellite agent design, nothing will be installed in SAP environments, no programs will be loaded, and absolutely nothing will need to be parameterized (or configured). You only need an SAP logon user with the necessary authorizations for remote RFC executions.

Apart from SAP, what else can I monitor?

SAP monitoring does not exclude the rest of Pandora FMS functions, that is to say, you will be able to join server, database, storage cabinets and network monitoring and elaborate joint reports.

Is there a minimum number of devices to monitor?

The SAP monitoring license is counted on a per SID basis, and the license covers a minimum of 2 Production SIDs and 2 Integration / Development SIDs.

What is the cost of SAP monitoring?

The SAP monitoring license has an additional cost to the Pandora FMS Enterprise license. SAP Hana monitoring is included in the Pandora FMS Enterprise license at no additional cost.

What are the SAP user requirements?

It must be an access login user for each SAP server to be monitored. This user must be of type “B-System” (System) in SAP ECC versions, or of type “Communication / CPI-C/RFC” in earlier SAP versions.

All SAP versions with ABAP stack are supported, and there is no need to upgrade the patch level, nor to install additional software (neither transport orders nor scripts).
